My Target Audience

My Target Audience

Demographics:
For my target audience i choose to aim at all the people that fit into the letter codes from Bankers to Students since the product i am advertising could be aimed at anyone group because it meets the human daily needs. This is good as it means i could aim my product at different audiences every time i make an advert.

Psychographics segmentation:
The audience i chose to target at specifically the Explorers groups since my product will be giving people energy meaning this group will be a good group to aim at as they are known to have a energy so a health energy drink might be interesting to them. I will also be aiming this advert at people who fit into the stragglers because they are typical know to have physical skill such as sports meaning because my advert will be related to energy i could make a advert with sports to target them to buying my product.

why i choose this audience?
I choose to aim my products at all the demographic groups since most people like water and regularly have to drink it in order to stay health or hydrated. Meaning my choose to aim my product at everyone i could gain a larger amount of attention since everyone would need the product. This is good as it will allow me to create whichever advert that will gain the attention of a large group. for example the letter code E group is known to have more free time than other and are likely to watch sports or part take in a sport. this means if i was to aim an advert at them i could make a sport related advert and gain the attention of a large group customer. However, if i am targeting one group at a time it might mean i could lose the attention of all the other groups meaning although the product could be appeal to them they might not watch the advert. For example, the likely hood of a female who likes trainer to watch a football boots advert is low since she doesn't play football.

For my Psychographic segmentation group i choose to aim at Explorers and Strugglers because they are the most likest groups to take part in a sport since they are known to be energy to or the physical aspects to play in a sport. Meaning if they exercise my product could be appeal to them. These groups are good for targeting my product as they to enjoy these adverts since it allows them to escape their reality and see things they could potentially be doing if they were to get the product. For example, School Students who love football like football adverts and buy football boots since they think their performance will improve.

Unique selling Point: This product is rare meaning my target audience is likely to choose it over normal water.
Brand Identity: My products name is Magic Water, slogan will be "Its energy without the bad bits" and my logo will be

Advantage of similar product: The advantage my product will have is that it will be able to provide the benefits two products in one which is an advantage since it will offer the customer two product for the price of one.
Lifestyle appeal: this product appeal will be that it makes your workout more efficient and easier which will be extremely useful to be who want to be healthy while exercising but do not like energy drinks since they are unhealthy.

Advert 1
1. For my first advert i will go with my first initial idea which was about two friends competing to catch a water bottle. I choose this idea as it will allow me to use character which will relate to my audience enabling me to get the attention and allow me to persuade them more successfully. In addition this advert also would allow me to be creative with my advert by making it surreal since the advert would be more memorable.

Form: The form of this advert will be No-realistic advert since it is a good way to grab a young audience attention. In addition, to this making my advert non-realistic will also allow me to make my advert the advert more entertaining and fun to watch because i will be able to make my advert a lot more creative.

Style: The style of this advert will be surreal since i will be making a bottle disappear and reappear a lot of times making the advert unique and simple to understand. Furthermore by making this advert unique i will be able to surprise the audience and intrigue them with the creativity  of the editing and the different angles shot of the advert.

Soundtrack: I will use the soundtrack...from none copyright music

Brand-identity: My brand will be recognize from the main Character which will be in all my adverts since he is a good representation of the target audience. The water bottle will also be part of the brand-identity since it is the product being advertised.

Cinematography: I will be using a variety of different angles, movements and shots legnth. i will explain these in my shot list.

Editing: I will use a variety of Transitions and effects to make the advert come together better. i will also state these in my shot list.

lighting: I will use natural lighting for all my shots.

Narrative: This will appear at the end of my advert, it will state the name of my product and the slogan.

Technique: There will be an over message of how my product is health as well as effective.

Advert 2
2. for my second advert i choose the advert in which i used the gym as it implied to the audience that it is especially targeted at people who exercise since my questionnaire suggest that the majority of my target audience is  young and do take part in a sport or exercised regularly. I pick this advert as it was a great way to show the type of impact the product will have on the viewers because the advert allows me to relate to the audience and get the attention that way.

Form: The form of this advert is going to be realistic to show that the product actual helps you to work out a lot more faster.

Style: this advert will have humor to it since it will show the struggles of working out, which is going to be funny for teenagers since teenager could relate to it making it funny for them.

Soundtrack: i used the sound track from non copyright music called Alan Walker-fade since it has beat that flows well with a gym scene.

Technique: i have an overt message to get more individuals to go to the gym.

This idea was inspired by Lucozades fit-water which is a similar product to mine and their advert used a gym to express how effective their product is when it comes to exercising.

Sponsorship
3. My sponsorship advert will be about a young male going on a jog and when he gets extremely tired to the point were he cannot continue any longer a water bottle appears and as soon as he drinks the water he becomes a lot more motivated to keeping on going. I picked this advert as it goes well with the other two adverts since it fits into the theme of working out.

Form: The form of my sponsorship will be non-realistic because the advert will have a bottle appear out of nowhere and the characters speed will be altered extremely.

Style: the style of this advert will be surreal because of the editing used to make logos appear and the character running extremely fast as well as the bottle appearing out of no where.

Soundtrack: The sound track i picked for this advert is Fredji-Happy Life. i picked this song since it fits into the pace of the video. This is good because i could use the soundtrack to get the audience to react how i want them to for the advert.

Radio advert
4. For my radio advert i went with one which relied on narrative to help me my unique selling point of my product. The advert will consist of two character who are having friend conversation when one finds out the other has a new drink the friends asks about the product and then he explain what it is quick and the jingle runs with slogan over it. I choose to do my radio advert this way since it will a conventional way to advertise on radio as it is short, memorable because of the jingles and slogans and allows me to describe to the audience the benefits of my product and how it will have they life.

Questionnaire and graph results

Create your own user feedback survey
Questionnaire analyses from xoibz21

I have created an audience questionnaire on Survey Monkey, I screenshot my audience feedback and results after that i explained my audiences feedback and how it will be helpful to me in the production of my adverts. By analyzing my audiences feedback i got new ideas and came to a final ideas for my adverts which was very useful since it helped to me to identify my target audience.

I used Survey Monkey to create the survey as it would be more accessible and easier for me to share the questionnaire online allowing individual who want to take the questionnaire to easily find it and use it. I also used Slide share for speaking about my results analyses of the questionnaire. I used this website as it allowed me to create the presentation from power-point which is a good tool to use for my analyzing graphs and the slide-share allows me to share theses presentation by allowing me to embed them onto websites such as blogger.

An advantage of making a questionnaire is that it allows you to find out what your target audience wants or thinks would satisfy them the most. in addition, to this questionnaires are also a good way to collect data about you target audience easily. However, questionnaires are sometimes ineffective since candidates could choose to rush the questions by skipped them making your research unreliable.

Initial Ideas

Initial Ideas

I had a variety of products to choose from for my advertising. I Narrowed down these options to my last three which were Water, jacket and the football. I like the water advert since it was unique because people do not often see water adverts. Meaning by choosing the water advert in a unique way would make my advert stand out a lot more than the other products. The other product i was considering is a football since football advert do not usually advertise the ball itself meaning if i was to advertise the ball on its own i would be able to attract a new audience from a target of age groups. The third idea i had was advertise jackets for a new brand named leverage, i thought this idea was too generic and not original enough but i like the idea of advertising jackets since it would be fun to create. Overall i decided to go with the Magic water advert since it would be the most unique and interesting idea.

For my first advert i wanted to just make an advert with a bottle which teleport every time one of the characters try to catch it. The form of this will non-realistic since i will be making the bottle disappear. i came up with this idea as it would keep the audience intrigue and in suspense because they will want to know how the characters catch up to the bottle and whether they meet the goal of getting some water to drink.

For my  second advert i had two different ideas one which involved a gym advert and the other which involved a football advert. I will choose one of these adverts by seeing which one is more popular in my questionnaire. The first idea is about a young male struggling with his work out but as after drinking the Magic water his work becomes a lot easier for him. The second idea i had for advert 2 was to get a character to play football but appear tired after playing half a match the character drinks the magic water and gives him all his energy back helping him outplay his opponents.

I made these two advert since the water could make the character improve the performance no matter what. The first advert will be a sponsor of X-factor since it will involve singing and my second idea will be sponsor by London marathon since the character is going on a jog.

For Radio advert i had two ideas:
1. The first idea was to make the advert funny so the audience would pay more attention to the radio. In this advert the goal was to tell jokes and then turn the jokes into problems and announce magic water as the solution.

2. The second idea for my Radio advert was to get two friends chilling after working out and one starts drinking magic water, the other friend gets curious and asking him about the water. The friends explains the products benefits and the narrator says the slogan and brand name.

Lighting and Colour

 lighting and colour

lighting helps to enhance the main representation of a video since it is cable of having a effect on characters and changing the whole mood of the entire video. In addition to this colour could also be used to manipulate the mood of the audience and it could be used to create different representation in order to get certain responses from the audience.

Lighting and colours usually work well with each other meaning they are often used since they complementary to each. This makes them extremely important since they can have huge effect on the audience reaction since they can feel the mood being represent depending on the colours of the advert. Meaning without the lighting and colour it would a lot harder for producers to have an effect on the audiences mood making the advertise less effective on their targeted audiences.

There are two types of lighting:
One type is the angle which the position the light is placed. For example, if there is back lighting, this is light from behind a character and makes the character all shady and dark. This usually suggest that the character is strange or mysterious as they cannot be identified. In an advert this could be used to create suspense for the audience to feel.

Another is top lighting, this is used because it makes a character look kind and innocent, in my case i could make the character look more energized. However, This mostly used in romantic movies to show off how beautiful a character or after someone just survive a near death experience to show that the character is safe.

In addition, there is also under lighting which is used to show an evil, creepy character. The director uses under lighting to show that his creepy and mental ill because of the way he is staring at people. But in my advert i could also use it to make the the character look really tired instead of creepy. I will use this to show my audience when the character is tired.

Furthermore, Colour could used to represent my character have after he has drank the water in order express how effective the water is. One way i could do this is by editing into a black and white screen and when the character drinks the water i could change the colours back to normal to show how well energized the character is.
This advert uses saturated colours to make the product seem more taste. This makes sure that the audience is focused on the advert since they made it appear as a fascinating drink. Mean the audience will almost instantly have a thirst for the drink.

Overall, lighting and colours are extremely important in an advert as it could change the mood of the audience meaning the advert would work subconsciously well with a targeted audience since i would know what they would like from my primary research.

Institutions and Commercial Advertising

Institutional adverting is when an organisation decide to promote its intention more than their goods and services. This is designed to help spread the brand of the company to the public even more which is good for  the organisations which use this method as it allows them to improve their brand reputation and the good intentions making it a form of brand advertising. An example of a market that uses institutional advertising is cigarette companies who indicate that they do not suggest their consumes to smoke to much, they do this by showing the harm of what too much smoking does to you. This suggest that they advertise the products but show what they intentions are by letting the consumers know by using the package letting their audience understand that they care about cancer and they are suggesting to their consumers to stop smoking. Another, reason that institutional advertising is used by companies is that it allows them to let the public know what they their aims are which is a good way of letting customers know that their favorite store is ethical and cares about their customers.

This advert suggest that they care about families and that they understand the importance of family which is ethical . this is good as it improves the brand image of Pillsbury as they would be more trusted by families as they would the intentions and aims of the company. Furthermore, at the end of the advert Pillsbury slogan 'Made at home' indicates that they understand the importance of home cocking which they could deliver to people who love home made cookies. The purpose of this advert to spread awareness of the companies brand since they did not focus on the product until the end of the advert which indicates the main purpose of this advert was to spread brand awareness.

Barthes Semiotics

Roland Barthes and Semiotics

Roland Barthes was one of the first structuralist theorists of culture. His work is about studying signs and symbols because they usually all have to be interpenetrated for people to see the meaning behind it. Therefore, his theory has taught that we can give different symbols and sign different meaning so people could understand what the costumes or props in a scene are trying to say about the setting of a scene.

Semiotics is about how we have automatic actions or thoughts which we don't consciously decide to do. Meaning we can make decisions instantly if we are used to because they have become cultural messages because we automatically know what we need to do since these ideas have become conventions as we have the ability to understand them as soon as we see them. A common example of this is Traffic light which we understand automatically without having to think about which colour what does. This is a good example of how cultural convention since we were told what these different colours meaning ever since we were children. Therefore, as we know about certain things unconsciously they can be used against us to teach us about what different signs and symbols mean.

Roland Barthes theory suggest that everyone is semiotic, this is because humans are always unconsciously trying to give signs around them meanings. This is because sounds are not just visual thinks but can also be aural or sonic signs, e.g. police sirens.

Semiotics in Media

Semiotics in media is refers to giving meaning to thinks such as myth, written or spoken words and symbols.

There are three different types of signs when it comes to semiotics, the first one i am going to talk about is iconic signs; This usually look at icons and how they are signs which show similarity in appearance. Another sign is Indexicial, these signs usually have a cause and effect relationship between the signs and its meaning. The Third sign symbolic, these typically have a conventional link.
